Hip Surgery

Restoring Movement. Reducing Pain. Returning to Confident Mobility.

Hip pain can gradually shrink a person’s world. Walking, exercise, work, sleep, travel, and even simple daily activities can become increasingly difficult as stiffness and pain progress.

For many patients, the problem is not simply pain alone. Hip arthritis often leads to progressive stiffness, limping, loss of rotation, difficulty standing upright, reduced walking tolerance, and loss of confidence in movement. Patients frequently adapt slowly over years without realising how restricted the joint has become.

The aim of treatment is not simply to improve an x-ray, but to restore comfortable movement, reduce pain, improve confidence, and allow patients to return to a more active and reliable level of function.

I assess and treat a wide range of hip conditions, from early arthritis and impingement through to advanced degenerative disease requiring reconstruction or hip replacement.

Treatment is always individualised. Many patients improve with physiotherapy, strengthening, activity modification, injections, or time. When surgery becomes appropriate, the focus is careful planning, restoration of movement and mechanics, durable reconstruction, and long-term function.

I perform both anterior and posterior hip replacement approaches, selecting the technique based on anatomy, stiffness, muscularity, previous surgery, deformity, complexity, and the individual goals of each patient.
