Post-Traumatic Deformity & Complex Reconstruction

Some injuries heal in a position that leaves ongoing pain, stiffness, weakness, instability, tendon irritation, or altered mechanics.

Others may involve failed previous surgery, tendon adhesions, collapse, cartilage injury, or chronic instability.

These problems can be particularly frustrating because patients are often told that “everything has healed”, despite persistent dysfunction.

Conditions assessed and treated include:

  • Malunion
  • Nonunion
  • Tendon adhesions
  • Post-traumatic stiffness
  • Failed previous surgery
  • Chronic instability
  • Deformity following fracture
  • Tendon rupture
  • Cartilage degeneration

Treatment may involve:

  • Corrective osteotomy
  • Tendon reconstruction
  • Tenolysis
  • Arthroscopy
  • Revision fixation
  • Ligament reconstruction
  • Salvage reconstruction

The goal is restoration of the best possible function, stability, movement, and long-term durability.
